Another Late Night...Again!

I have been a night owl for as long as I could remember. I hated getting up for school as a child and when I started college I somehow managed to schedule my classes in the morning. What?!?!? I actually had a choice WHEN I took my classes and I chose to schedule them early. Then I got smart; the past several years I have scheduled them in the early afternoon and into the evening. That had to been the best move I ever made! Plus, I am an older student now and having a class with like minded adults is, well, nice. Group work is great because you know that those who are in the group with you are actually doing their work. You don't have the fear and hair pulling wondering if the other student is going to show up for class with the completed work. Hopefully they are not still hung over from the blowout party from the party the night before.

Well anyway, I did pass another semester. Yippy! I now officially have 5 classes left and see a HUGE light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, here goes another post...

I have a few weeks left of classes, this semester BY FAR has been the hardest. It's not that my classes have been hard, I just lost my umph. I was only out 1 year, but what 1 year does to you! My teacher busted me on my paper last week, she said: "Sandy, I know you don't turn in this kind of work." Long story short she is letting me rewrite my paper, and I explained to her about how tough this semester has been after being out for a year. She totally understood, thank God!

After this semester I will have 5 classes left, 5. Did I say 5? Yes 5. Part of me want's to hibernate for a semester and take all 5 and be done. The other part says, "ARE YOU CRAZY???" you need to make money and have a life. Spring classes are already in stone, I'm going to try to plan out for the fall. I might just take 3 classes and get it done. It depends on what they offer, IUS has been slacking on the upper level courses. URRGH!

Thanksgiving is next week, I am excited. I am even more excited about BLACK FRIDAY! This will be my second year going with the gang! I didn't buy much but had fun going along for the ride. We had so much fun, especially the Urgent Care Center run with Kathy and setting off Megan's car alarm at Wal-mart. (after it had been going off for 15 minutes with Kathy and Robin inside!) Good Times...

I'm excited for what will unfold this year!

More later.

Hmm...

I haven't written in awhile, sorry Aunt Robin. I have been busy... The liturature class I am taking has kept me buzy, I just got done reading The Things They Carried by (well I don't remember) and before that read Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonagut. Both were interesting reads but not part of my natural reading selections.

I signed up for classes in the spring... I am taking Women's Health, and a music class: History of Popular and Rock Music. These were not my first choices, but since they are not offering many saftey classes and I had no other choice. The safety classes they are offering I have already taken or one class it has a prerequisite. IUS has gotten bad about cutting upperlevel classes for evening students. THIS SUCKS! I hate not having classes to choose from that fit my degree PLUS that are interesting. Yes I know that my last 15 credits are electives but I don't want to pay over $1000 per semester for classes that I don't really need. The good thing is after this semester I have 4 classes left to take YIPPY! I should be done by next fall.

Well enough about school...

There is a lot I want to write about but I'm too tired at the moment to continue... I will get back on soon.

I know I have not posted...

Ok, Ok, Ok, sorry Aunt Robin for the delay! I have not posted in awhile, it's been very busy the past few months.

In July I finally was accepted to attend the Emmaus Walk, well I applied to go near the first of the year and they accepted me to attend the July walk. I could not have had a better experiance the whole weekend. I new bits and pieces of what was going to happen all weekend but didn't know everything. Thank God I didn't! If I new what was going to happen Saturday night I would of problably went into a panic attack. (for those who have not gone I am not going to spoil it for you what exactly happend) but anyway, have a small fear of large crowds of people in a small area, and when I turned the corner and saw all of the people (in a matter of a few seconds wanted to cry and look for the nearest exit) Then I remembered that some of my church family was there and I had passed a few at the begining so I knew that if I was to run to an exit then I would of been escorted right through the line. :) Gotta love them! SO I plastered a smile on my face and went right on through. My sponsor (and my good friend Jammie) was at the end and saw the look on my face and new that I was in panic mode. She looked at me straight in my face and was a couple of inches from me and was like BREATH! I looked at her and laughed. Looking back I loved the entire experiance of that night. SO this Saturday they are having another candlelight ceramony for the men's walk, I am going to attend from the other side of it.

I'll write a little more later...

What to say...

I am not sure where to begin... I am still waiting for word on my job (what's new). I am going to look around to find something since natural gas stocks bottomed out, I don' t think I will be back anytime soon. :(

Anyways, my Mamaw fell last week and broke her neck, it's her C1 vertibrae. Yes she is fine otherwise, she is still able to move her arms and legs. she will have a long road ahead of her, she'll be leaving the hospital soon to go to rehab.

I am still in my bible study class, we have moved on to Exodus last time I was there (two weeks ago) we were on the plauges. We have had many discussions on the plauges and in comparison to the movie "the 10 commandments". It's been funny how "hollywood" leaves things out and really plays up stuff.

My friend Jammie and I went and saw Aliens vs. Monsters when it came out in theaters. We loved it! They advertised in the trailers the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. They both look hilarious.

Started on the next book!!!

In my sunday school class we are studying the books of the bible. We started on Exodus last Sunday, we've had so much discussion we are on chapter 3. Our teachers have really been working hard to bring a lot of information to us. They bring other books with them to use as reference, the books will explain a little more about what is going on in the world.

finally...

I have been trying off and on for weeks to get my computer to use dial-up at the house. Dad has a co worker that works on computers on the side and he gave him a list of instructons to try. sooo, after 30 minutes of trying and trying, we ( dad and i) looked around on our cheet sheet of info for our "house" computer and found out that the username and password had been changed. Mom said "oops". At least now I can log on, but I think I am spoiled by Mamaw and Papaws wireless/highspeed internet. I will use the dial up for small stuff but will end up at my grandparents house for major stuff (downloading podcasts to ipod).

The Computer

We found out that the motherboard is fried on our computer. The guy fixing it is going to give us a deal, and he is going to pull off our information on the fried motherboard so we can have it. I will be happy when we get it back.

I am still laid off of work; hopefully I will get a call soon.

We will be starting the book of Exodus in bible, I am really excited to start the next book in the Bible. I think the rate our group is going it is going to be 2011 before we finish all the books of the bible.

well that is all for now...

Home Computer Crashed!

I got home after church today and went to get online with the home computer. It wouldn't start up, It was acting funny the other day and had a smell coming from it. I had planned on opening it up tomorrow and using the can air to dust it out. Well, I don't know what I am going to do now. I guess we'll call our computer guy to see if he can get it running again. Luckily my laptop works, I just have to drive to Mamaw and Papaws house, because I can't get the dial up to work. Ugh!!!!

Easter

Today is Easter, it end up being a great day outside. I got up and went to church this morning and even went to Sunday school. Randy my pastor started a new series this morning EPIC: Every story is God's story...every story is our story. Ever wonder why we are captivated by stories of epic proportions? Join us Easter Sunday, April 12th and discover an incredible drama hardwired into our very being. It's the greatest story ever told. (That’s from the website) You should have seen the sanctuary this morning; they had it set up looking like little pieces of movies, a boat for Titanic, Gladiator, Charlotte’s Web, Wizard of Oz, and Lord of the Rings. They also had other little things up that made it look like it was a movie theme. During first part of the service today they had a lady that started painting a picture of Jesus while we were singing, and at the end while they were taking up the offering she finished it. It was really neat seeing her paint it during church, I felt like I was watching Bob Ross paint, she’d get to a point and it looked good then she’d add something else.

I am still waiting to get back to work, I talked to my boss yesterday and they still don’t know anything on the contract we have. If anyone knows of someone needing work done a couple of days a week let me know. Just as long as they know I could be called out of town at any time (but will give them as much notice as I can). I just want to earn a little money to help pay my bills and to keep busy. Just send me an email: sandpaperturpintine@hotmail.com

So... I was told I need to blog more so here I am. I am glad spring is here, and the warm weather. I started attending Sunday school at my church, it’s called Foundation of Faith, we are studying (briefly) the books of the bible and who the major people are. It has been a lot of fun; we have started on Genesis and have been there for a few Sundays.

I also joined my church about a month ago; I had been attending for about 3 years and finally decided that being there is where I needed to be at. Randy is an excellent pastor and the church is a big church (about 400), but it’s not so large that you don’t know everyone or at least most of the people. Also, I have joined a life group at the church, or as Larry told me, you need a life (jokingly), we are reading a book on Heaven. I am really excited to be reading the book. I felt like I was missing something not having classes to take so being in this life group and the Sunday school class. I have figured out now (as much as I hated being in school as a kid) that I absolutely love learning and guess I will be taking classes for the rest of my life.

Still Waiting...

For those of you who have kept up with me since starting my new job, well I am still waiting to get the call to go back out of town. UGH!!! Hopefully it will be soon, I am ready to see another part of the country. I will keep you all posted.

I am ready for spring, it's slowly getting here. I'm just glad I have not been called to go to Pennsylvania yet. (YES I know that this statement is a contradiction to me wanting to get back to work but I hate driving in snow. and they get plenty.) I enjoy the first smells of spring, especially when it's warm enough to open windows to air out the house.

well more later...

Ugh! Snow!

I am so glad the snow is melting. Don't get me wrong, I like the snow but I HATE driving in it. I wasn't able to get my car out of the driveway until Friday, and even then 337 was still a little treacherous. Our electricity went out Wednesday morning between 3 and 4 A. M. and we were without it until Thursday morning. Luckily we had a wood stove and dad had a small camp stove for coffee. We had sandwiches throughout the day and went to the Moose Lodge that night for dinner. We just needed to get out and eat a warm dinner and watch TV and visit with friends.

I am still waiting to get my start date for work, from what I know we have the contract but can’t get them to give us a date to start. I do know we are supposed to be in Pennsylvania and we’re about 1 ½ from NYC. YAY!!! I could not be more excited I plan to go visit some friends and go see the city as much as I can. I’ll keep you all posted….

This is what I found at the gas station before I started my trip to West Virginia! I saw it as a sign of good things to come!

What a Year!

I thought I would start blogging to have something to do while I was on the road so the family can see what I am doing and see the pictures I take without sending 1000 emails to try to keep up. (Yes, I will still send emails but this will be easier)

I spent the first half of 2008 working at CVS pharmacy as a supervisor/photo tech, which I had been doing for 9 years when I left in June. I shoved school aside and decided to see the United States while I was working for McGEOugh Land Services, my cousin Pam and her Husband Sean's company. I spent from the middle of June to the middle of October in West Virginia. What a place to start out at, It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! It also started putting things in a little more perspective of what I need and what I can do without. I had to be able in a moment’s notice pack my stuff in my car and go to the next location, as I soon found out at the beginning of October when I had to pack my stuff up at my condo at Snowshoe Mountian and move to the great Holiday Inn Express in Lewisburg. (Awesome staff at the HIE) I also enjoyed seeing a lot of West Virginia while driving home every three weeks or so. I will be posting soon on my new location once it’s finalized, but I will be able to post comments and pictures for you all to see.
